Do you wish you could observe live animals during your animal units? You can! With LiveAnimalsTV.com, students can observe various animals via the internet. Zoos, aquariums and animal shelters have installed webcams that allow viewers to observe mammals, fish, reptiles and birds around the world. It’s a great way for students to learn about animal movement and behaviors in the classroom without going on a field trip!
During our TK animal unit, I set up our classroom computers with various animals for students to observe. They were mesmerized while watching the shark tank and thrilled to observe pandas eating mounds of bamboo. Some of the webcams even offer sound to enhance the experience.
During workshop centers, students were able to observe animals independently or with their peers. It was a great way for students to gain knowledge and communication skills. It’s also really fun! I highly recommend this website, if you have an animal unit or if your students have an interest in animals.
