Draw and Tell is a great app that allows students to use their imaginations to create unique stories. To get a story started, students select their background. They can choose from plain white or an array of colors and patterns. Then users can select their drawing tools. There are crayons, paintbrushes, and colored pencil palettes that offer different textures and line thickness. If students have a difficult time with drawing, there are stickers and stencils to offer support. Choose from animals, food, letters, and numbers to provide a starting point for a fun and creative story. Once students have created a drawing that they like, they have the option to narrate their story. If they’ve chosen to use stickers, the stickers are movable in the narration stage. This creates an added element of creativity!
My TK students have loved creating their own unique stories on this app. I have found that some of my shyest students have created and narrated the most stories. There is a sense of security when students are able to sit on their own to create and narrate their story. It allows them to talk freely and create adorable stories. The stories are saved in the app so you can go back and listen to what your students said. It’s really fun to listen to all of the stories at the end of the day. Children are so creative! You can use this app to create stories that relate to your units of study or just let students create on their own. The possibilities are limitless. Happy storytelling!
