Do you have a mix ability math classroom? Do you constantly struggle to challenge those high level learners, while still supporting your emerging learners? What about those students right dab in the middle?
Adapts to the individual learner
Personalizes instruction from intervention through enrichment
6th grade classrooms, like many others classrooms these days, can have mixed ability learners. It is almost impossible to meet the needs of every learner. With Dreambox Math, teachers have an advantage, parents have an extra tool to keep their child constantly working, and students have an opportunity to use a self-paced at level learning tool both in the classroom and at home.
Easy to get started. Just watch the tutorials for an easy guide to bringing Dreambox into your everyday curriculum.
Dreambox is used almost everyday in my classroom. Web-based sign in in the classroom or computer lab, or iPad based for those who are fortunate to have iPads in their classroom for daily instruction. Every parent and teacher is also given an “at home” username and password which directs them to their account.
Easy tracking of student usage.
Track student progress by standard or by individual student.
Multiple ways to track and monitor your students.
Classroom summary, Student progress by Standard, Student Groups by Proficiency, and standard Progress monitoring are all options for tracking. Plus many more. Using the monitoring systems has allowed me to continually challenge my students, and check up on their independent progress. While the system are not the best I have ever used, they do the job just fine.
Many different teacher resources are available, most with easy to watch and quick videos.
Check out the teacher resources available on the website. Many ideas for encouraging and implementing with students in the classroom.
All in all, this program has made a big difference within the classroom learning environment. Students look forward to time spent on the program, parents appreciate the extra support or enrichment both at home and in class, and other teachers, as well as myself, use it as a station task, independent work time may do/must do, or an interactive and educational opportunity to keep students busy if they finish assignments early. Dreambox has really brightened up the learning environment, and keeps the students engaged. Students often will state, “I finished my work, can I go on Dreambox?” You know you have a great program when the students want to participate without being asked.
