Description: Notability iPad app creates notes that integrate handwriting, typing, drawings, audio, and pictures. It can be used to create lecture notes and other classroom materials, and also be used to annotate PDF documents, such as student assignments and PDF forms.
Notability is a note taking app that is a step up from the preloaded Notes app that comes with an iPad. It adds more features including the ability to draw with many options (color, width, transparency, etc).
My students use Notability to type or handwrite notes on their iPads during my science, PE, and health classes. Notability provides a structure for them to maintain notes in separate folders for each class. They can search their notes and insert images to enhance the information. Notability even allows them to record the teacher’s voice or their own to further enhance the note taking experience.
I post my quizzes into NEO, our online learning management system. Students copy the quiz questions into Notability and can then easily answer them using color, drawings, graphs, etc. Once they finish the quiz, they save it as a pdf and upload it back into our learning management system.
